Meri's Homeschooling Journey
Ohhh, this is SUCH a good chat.
In this week's podcast, I sit down with Wonder & WILD mum Meri from Florida, and her homeschooling journey is going to hit home for so many mums. Her eldest son Mateo went from struggling at school, feeling anxious about learning and falling behind academically, to coming home, rebuilding his confidence and absolutely THRIVING.
We talk about the messy middle too. There were different programs, tears, a new baby, work, ministry and plenty of figuring it out together.

I asked Meri what life actually looks like in her house, and I LOVE how different her kids are. Mateo is her music-loving little Renaissance man, Malachi is five and already demanding “big boy work”, and their baby girl is happily coming along for the ride. We talk homeschooling with a baby, working while homeschooling and what their house actually looks like at 7:45am.
Then we get into why Meri chose homeschooling in the first place. Mateo had become anxious about school and had fallen behind, so Meri stopped focusing on where he was supposedly meant to be and started teaching the child actually sitting in front of her. She gave him what she calls “space and grace”, rebuilt the foundations with him and, within their first homeschool year, he went from struggling academically to assessing above grade level. Then he told her, “Thank you so much for homeschooling me. This is the best life.” I MEAN. 😭
And of course, we talk Wonder & WILD. Meri joined the program and says the parent training was a game changer because it helped her understand what learning actually looks like while it is developing, not just the shiny finished result. Wonder & WILD gives you the learning, subjects, projects and support, while YOU choose how that fits into your family. Work around the baby, start later, take it outside, follow a rabbit hole. The goal is that you know what you are doing and feel EQUIPPED enough to think, “Yep. I can do this.”
